In this unit, students will:

  • Understand that Georgia is a state with a diverse geography
  • Distinguish the characteristics that make Georgia different in regards to its unique physical landscape
  • Describe Georgia's relative and absolute location, describe its five regions, locate and evaluate the importance of Georgia's physical features
  • Discuss how Georgia's climate has impacted the development of the state
  • Explain how the life of the American Indians in Georgia changed over time as well as explain how the conflict between the American Indians and the European explorers impacted the development of Georgia.
  • Understand that when there is conflict between or within societies, change is the result
